Could you beat Tom Izzo in a wrestling match?

Last night (before the debacle against Wisconsin), a friend texted me asking if I thought I could beat Coach Izzo in a wrestling match. My first thought: “what the heck brought this on?” My second thought: “wow, good question”.

I didn’t give it much thought before responding: “He would have leverage and old man strength on me, but I think I could get him.” I definitely would not have been too scared of him in his younger days.

But after I texted my buddy back, I thought about it a little more. The more I thought, the less confident I became. The old man strength combined with a mean streak like no other would be tough to overcome. Plus, he’s 5’7″ or 5’8″ and looks stronger than an ox, so he would have the leverage. If the match came directly after Draymond Green not blocking out on the defensive board and giving up a putback, he’d win in a romp. Hmm…I may have just talked myself out of this one.

What do you think? Could you beat Tom Izzo in a wrestling match?
