university of michigan gets Probed

It’s my favorite time of the year…No, I’m not talking about the upcoming NFL combine or March Madness being right around the corner. I’m talking about sanction time for UofM. So what’s up NCAA? Why you all up in their biz?

Yesterday, university officials announced that five violations were found by the NCAA during their latest investigation. I won’t bore you with the list of violations…but 4 violations had to do with cheating and 1 due to lying.

Dick Rod has been the central focus of UofM’s issues the two years. He’s bad with the media, his team has only won 3 Big Ten games in the last two years and now this mess. Even with all of these issues, UofM’s Athletic Director, David Brandon, said he plans on sticking with Rich Rodriguez as the head coach for next season. Good news for tOSU fans.

So, what’s on the horizon for UofM? Loss of scholarships? Post season ban? Loss of those dumb winged helmets? We will find out in August when UofM meets with the NCAA to review these potential major violations. My guess is that the university will self-impose some weak sanctions and the NCAA won’t add anything more. I think that, if investigated, many schools would be guilty of the same allegations. I guess the only difference is that UofM is dumb enough to get caught.
