Ray McCallum, Jr. Makes it Official – WILL ATTEND DETROIT MERCY

| April 14, 2010 | 9:13 pm | 19 Comments

It’s a heck of a day for basketball in the city of Detroit. The Pistons are about to wrap up a season filled with complete garbage and the University of Detroit Mercy Titans just received a commitment from their highest profile recruit ever. EVER. Ray McCallum, Jr, son of Ray Sr. (duh), the current UDM coach announced this afternoon on espnu that he will sign with the Titans.

McCallum, a Detroit Country Day senior guard, chose UDM over Arizona, UCLA and Florida. There have been whispers around campus that junior forward Xavier Keeling may transfer. I hope that isn’t true, but that just means more shots for guys who can fill it up – Jr., Chase Simon and Eli Holman, should X choose to leave.

Bring on the criticism that he should have chosen a bigger, power conference school so he’d get more attention from NBA scouts. Let’s not get ahead of ourselves people, but where’d Dwyane Wade go? What about Steph Curry? Steve Nash? Your argument is out the window.

Junior made a great choice. Here’s hoping it works out well for him.

FYI Tim–there have been 21 players from Univ. of Detroit/Mercy who have or are currently playing in the NBA–no small potato's!
Willie Green still playing for Philly!
He'll get plenty of NBA attention–if they are good enough–they will be found!

In comparison to Arizona, UCLA and Florida, UofD (Mercy) is far from a giant.

Willie Green has been a great Titan rep in the NBA. The school still needs to get its act in gear and honor him before a game or during halftime for the locker room he donated a few years ago.

How many players other than "free willie" are currently active in the NBA? I'm sorry but you guys are pathetic.
Anyway "free willie" is the only current active player at the NBA from your pathetic school…Soo SHUT UP!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Sounds like mister silly pants Anonymous is a little bit of a SORE LOSER !!!!

You still can't freakin' spell even though the comment section contains Spell Check !!!

Hey Anonymous with the tiny winkie, those little red squiggly lines mean that a word is misspelled. You would have learned that if you had gone to an accredited school.

Willie is a very fine rep for UDM…have you ever met him, you jealous wanker? Say what you said above to his face and he would slap you silly, but you are already silly and he has way too much class.

Do you have the jewels to name your school or are you too embarrassed or a complete loser?

    Great comment mom23sons !!!

There's a funny picture from one of those tea bagger gatherings with a guy holding a sign saying "Moran." Question: If you can't spell moron, are you a moron?

Can't wait to see McCallum in a Titan uniform and getting a good education as well. Great story. Great for the University of Detroit. Great for the City of Detroit.
