Bob Boughner to be named Columbus Blue Jackets Asst. Coach

A VERY reliable source tipped IASID that Bob Boughner, head coach and part owner of the OHL’s Windsor Spitfires, will be named an assistant coach on Scott Arniel’s staff Monday afternoon.

Boughner’s Spits have recently dominated the OHL, winning back to back Memorial Cups.  It’s a well-deserved promotion and propels Boughner toward his goal of becoming an NHL head man.  The Jackets are getting a first class guy who knows his way around NHL rinks after being a part of six NHL squads.  And let me be the first to tell you, the guy throws a heck of a party.

Dark Blue Jacket, a Blue Jackets blog, documented how the story was broken.

UPDATE: My very reliable source was indeed correct.  Boughner’s hiring was made official at 2pm in Windsor, Ontario.  Congratulations to the Boughner family on this achievement.

Well done, Goergs! And thanks for taking the time yesterday to walk through how you found out about this.

Windsor's loss is Columbus' gain, but Boughner gets closer and closer to his goal of being an NHL head coach with this move – that's for sure.

Goergs beats all the big guns…and it won't be the last time.
