Anthony Kim is livin’ it up in Las Vegas

Normally when a PGA player not named Woods or Mickelson withdraws from a Tour event, it isn’t news.  So naturally, it wasn’t going to break anyone’s heart if Anthony Kim pulled out this weekend’s event in Las Vegas.  Kim cited his injured thumb as the reason for his withdrawal.  But, a few pit bosses have a different story for you.
Kim arrived in Vegas last Friday to learn the course and get the timing back on his swing.  Ok, I’m lying.  He flew into Vegas last Friday and has been playing the heck out of the craps tables.  According to casino workers at the Bellagio Hotel and Casino, AK’s language and behavior has been, shall we say, under par.  One casino employee said Kim repeatedly used the f-word while betting heavily and getting a bit boisterous at the craps tables over the weekend.
Kim’s marketing agency, IMG, has said that the partying has nothing to do with his WD from the tournament.  Uh huh, right.  On Tuesday, the Palms’ casino’s DJ Exodus tweeted, “Anthony Kim is an animal 115 bottles then to top it off a 25k bottle of Dom, which he showered the dance floor with…”   I’m waiting for IMG’s statement that Kim’s orthopedist prescribed spraying bottles of Dom Perignon has treatment.
The 25 year old has been known to run up a beverage bill in the past.   Last year, Kim apparently had a $66,000 alcohol bill comped at a Vegas casino.  At last year’s President’s Cup, fellow PGAer Robert Allenby called Kim the Tour’s “current John Daly” because he was up drinking until 4am before their match.
Is AK really becoming the next JD?  We’ll see if AK shows up at his next tournament wearing a pair of these…
