Ohio $tate recruit arrested for assaulting girls

Chris Carter, Jr. (not the son of former Vikings receiver Cris Carter), should have been autographing his national letter of intent to sign away the next couple year of his life to Ohio $tate coach Jim Tressel.  Instead, the 6’5″ 350 pound high school senior was sitting in a Cleveland jail cell on suspicion of misdemeanor sexual imposition.

The charge: fondling high school girls.  The ploy: measuring them for their ROTC uniforms.  Carter was taken into police custody after a female student accused him of sexually assaulting her after he took her into a room behind the school’s auditorium and asked her to take off her shirt.  After feeling uncomfortable, the girl left.  Carter, a member of the school’s Junior Reserve Officers’ Training Corp, later admitted of pulling the stunt with other girls and turned over his book of measurements to police.

He was released from police custody without bond late yesterday afternoon.  Jim Tressel has said he cannot comment on the situation because Carter is still an unsigned recruit.  Carter is still expected to sign with Ohio $tate.

I definitely wasn’t in the “measurements” room..  But, I can see why Tressel doesn’t want to comment.  It’s still a touch and go situation and the facts are very touchy.  Carter is said to have a nice feel for the game.  If Tressel does indeed let Carter on the team, he might be subjected to punishment, a tat-for-tit reaction, if you will.
