The ballpark beer scam

Despite knowing that many of my readers being the fru fru daiquiri variety – it’s ok to admit it, an It’s Always Sunny in Detroit ballpark beer suspicion has been proven by another site’s research peons.  First of all, it doesn’t take a genius to know you’re getting ripped off on your eight dollar beer at the park.  But, by what margin are you getting cheated?

The Oakland Coliseum isn’t the only one puling this scam. A “study” was done with the different cup sizes at Dodger Stadium (mind out of the gutter, please). The results:

A “small” cup holds 2.25 cups or 18 ounces of liquid. It costs $6.00 – $0.33/ounce.
A “regular cup holds 2.5 cups or 20 ounces of liquid and costs $8.00 – $0.40/ounce.
A “large” cup holds 3.25 cups or 26 ounces of beverage and costs $10. – $0.38/ounce.

For the record, a 12 pack of Heineken bottles runs about $14 – $0.097/ounce.

So yeah, the proof is in your wallet…or probably out of our wallet. Besides slamming some brew before the ballgame, the best bang for your buck is the small. And as the Oakland A fan showed, you’re paying a few extra bucks for a few extra ounces.

In conclusion…maybe that long daiquiri line at Comerica Park is the place to be…

You’ll probably find them there.
