Former Spartan now Red Wing, Justin Abdelkader, drops "bomb" on Big House

Former Michigan State Spartan hockey player Justin Abdelkader was given the opportunity of a lifetime yesterday.  He took a 40 minute flight with Lt. David Trickle of the U.S. Navy Blue Angels.

Flying out of Willow Run Airport in Ypsilanti, their trip inevitably took them near Ann Arbor.  And when Abdelkader recognized Michigan Stadium, he wasn’t about to pass up the opportunity to take a shot at the Wolverines.

“We were joking around when we flew over Ann Arbor, went over the Big House, if we’d had a couple of bombs on it (the jet), maybe we would have dropped a couple on there.”

Knowing that Abdelkader is a Spartan, Lt. Trickle said that, “One of the maneuvers that I can show him is a bombing drop.  We just happened to be over Ann Arbor at the time … so it worked out great we could pretend we were bombing Ann Arbor for him.”  Trickle followed that up with, “Obviously I would never bomb Ann Arbor.  I have nothing against Michigan.”

Well Mr. Trickle, that’s your bad.
