Ochocinco offers to pick up rookie’s potential fine
During Thursday night’s Patriots/Buccaneers preseason game, Pats quarterback Tom Brady tried to hit Chad Ochocinco on a square in route. 85 was hit by Bucs rookie linebacker Mason Foster who was flagged for a personal foul. After watching the play a handful of times, I can see why the ref called the penalty, but I don’t agree with it. Here’s the play:
As weird as it may sound, Ochocinco appreciated the hit. In fact, he appreciated it so much that he’s offering to pick up any potential fine that Mason may receive from the NFL. With the way the NFL is trying to strong-arm players these days, a fine is an almost certainty. 85 chated up Foster over Twitter after the game.
Good stuff, Chad. We all know whose bank account has more zeroes. I like the move, even though the NFL says that if he picks up the fine, he’ll get fined himself. As I said, Goodell enjoys flexing in front of the mirror these days. Maybe 85 can get Foster an extra special Labor Day gift instead.

Foster hit him after Ocho caught the ball and was on his way to the turf. Once you commit to the tackle you can't change at the last split second. Sure, he hit Ocho high, but it's where Ocho was 2/10 of a second before he got hit. Ocho knew that, now can the league figure it out/ Don't hold your breath.
Classy move Chad ..u no the NFL is not going to like that idea …
Classy move, stupid move.
How can the league discipline, if Ochostinko picks up the tab. That's giving the guy another ticket to do it again to somebody else, & danger to get worse results.
I wonder if Chad ended up with a broken neck, paralyzed, he'd feel the same way?
He did not lead with his head and was just putting a hit on 85. Pick up the tab it is worth it. There should not have been a flag anyway. If Goodell has it his way then they would just play flag or touch. I get playing safe but you can't completly tie the defenses hands. Goodell never could play in the NFL it was to rough now he is using/abusing his power to make it soft.
Darryl Stingley just rolled over in his grave.
This replay sucks the scene keeps starting and stopping but does not give you the sequence of frames. So I can't judge the call due to crapy coverage
Brady should've thrown it sooner… then he could've slid to the ground as 85 always does
He hit the receiver in the head with his helmet (as the receiver was going to the ground). I don't have a problem with the ref (it's the pre-season for them, too); I think it's a weird rule. I also think it's weird that the NFL is handing out fines in pre-season games. I think the pre-season sucks. I think coverage of it sucks. I think the NFL handles the pre-season as bad if not worse than any other league handles any other issue. The NFL is determined to take a good thing and screw it up. And the more individual players are pushed, rather than teams, it's going to get worse and worse.
Can't really blame the ref for the call. It's a snap decision they need to make(sometime right, sometimes wrong). Seems people fail to realize that sometimes we are able to see more by watching it on tv than they can see on the field. Ocho's offer should be accepted without penalty from the league. If the victim doesn't think anything was illegal about the hit, Goodell just needs to accept that. Between the lockout and a bunch of pre-season bs already seen, I'm finding it hard to even get into the NFL this year. The league is going downhill and continues to push fans further and further away. Thank god we still have the NCAA! Suck it Goodell!!!
Wow, Chad got decleated by the Rookie. Maybe Chad should pay to have his name changed back to Johnson so people would take him more seriously. Clown.
lets just castrate players and put them in bra and panties and send them to play lingerie league
