Jalen Rose: Rob Gronkowski was "white boy wasted"

It’s been well-documented that Patriots tight end Rob Gronkowski had himself a good time after his team lost the Super Bowl Sunday.  He’s been criticized by some, including former Patriots safety Rodney Harrison, and his actions have been brushed by others (including myself).  Here’s the video that brought this all about.

On Thursday, ESPN NBA analyst Jalen Rose joined Mike and Mike in the Morning and put a different spin on Gronk’s night out. Rose was appearing on the show to discuss basketball, but asked if he could weigh in on Gronkowski beforehand. And once again, Rose would have come off more intelligent had he kept his mouth shut.

“Forgive this term because I didn’t make it up: He was having a good time. He was white boy wasted. He was having a good time,” Rose said.

After people were able to digest the “white boy wasted” comment an hour and a half later, Rose came back into studio to issue an apology. Rose and Mike Golic chuckled all the way through the half-keestered apology.

“You guys got me in trouble. Earlier in today’s show we were talking about the Patriots’ post-game party and I made some comments that other people — some people — took as insensitive remarks, so for those that took it that way I definitely apologize. Pretty sure I always say things that upset people, get under people’s skin. I guess today was no different. So I’m sorry for the pushback.”

Rose was known as a heavy trash-talker during his playing days, especially at the University of Michigan. But at 39 years old and five years removed from his playing days, you’d think the jaw-jacking may have subsided. Apparently not.

And while I fall under the classification “white boy”, I’m not offended. But, I wonder if Rose would be had somebody called him “black dude wasted” after his recent DUI.
