Off-the-wall stuff yelled by U.S. Open fans this weekend

As tough as the golf course played this weekend, the fans in attendance were as loose with their expressions.  You didn’t hear as many of the usuals – “you da man” and “get in the hole”.  Instead, the San Franciscans brought out their weirdness.  I’m not sure if shouting out off-the-wall stuff is par for the course in San Francisco (I’m not judging, but I considered it) or if someone was trying too hard (more likely) to be funny.

On Thursday, two goofballs combined for a “filet mignon” and “medium rare!”

On Saturday, Woods was greeted with what ended up being our favorite for the tournament. Some hot shot shouted a “yeah playa!” after his tee shot on 18.

On Sunday as Jim Furyk was plugging along before he collapsed, another food reference was made. This one has been done, but we still don’t get it.

Fred Flintstone attended Sunday’s round at the Olympic Club and apparently was/is a big fan of Northern Ireland’s Graeme McDowell.

And finally, this geek was a prime example of working way too hard to make yourself heard on television. Ba Ba Booey, really? And you said it twice? I’ll bet my left thumb that he was recording this at home and sent umpteen text messages to his buddies asking if they heard him. Put it on your resume, pal. You should be proud.
