WSOC-TV in Charlotte apologizes to Robinson Cano for false PED tweets
Robinson Cano can thank the players he grew up watching – Jose Canseco, Rafael Palmeiro, Sammy Sosa, Barry Bonds and the rest of the cheaters. The suspicion of performance-enhancing drug use still burns rampant when players have big offensive years or careers – especially those that play positions that do not usually generate big power numbers. Professional ESPN clown Skip Bayless had the gawl to even bring up living legend Derek Jeter as a potential PED-user.
Yankees second baseman Robinson Cano is hands down the best offensive second baseman in the game and has been for three or four years now. Since 2008, he has averaged 104 runs scored, 197 hits, 29 home runs and 101 RBIs, all while averaging a .313 average. He’s a stud. Any baseball mind and even casual fans know this. But yes, there are Yankees haters around every corner and those that will take every opportunity to bash the Bronx Bombers (when it concerns ARod, it’s almost always valid).
Per Deadspin, is not a sports reporter, but he is a Mets fan and describes himself on his Twitter account as a “keen observer of NY sports.” A few weeks ago, he brought PEDs into the Robinson Cano success discussion. Here’s what he posted in several different tweets:

Good God. Everyone calm down. Don’t know how clearly I can state it – I HAVE NO CONFIRMATION THAT CANO PED RUMOR IS TRUE.
Yeah, uninformed, irresponsible and downright wrong. Yes, it’s the baseball world we live in now, but it’s a dirty cheap shot. Bottom line: the reports were false and Mr. Tordjman had egg on his face. Today, his company issued an apology:
