Indiana’s Will Sheehey takes ridiculous dive in loss to Minnesota (VIDEO)
The Minnesota Golden Gophers defended their home turf Tuesday knocking off the number one-ranked Indiana Hoosiers at “The Barn” in Minneapolis. And while Indiana has certainly looked like the best team in country, especially after beating Michigan State in East Lansing this past week, they’re becoming very easy to dislike.
If you remember in the MSU game, Indiana big man Cody Zeller caught Michigan State center Derrick Nix in the groin with an elbow midway through the second half. A few minutes later, Zeller pulled Nix’s hand toward his own crotch trying to goad the officials into thinking Nix retaliated. The verdict: the refs didn’t buy it.
In the last minute of Tuesday’s game with Minnesota leading by five, Indiana’s Will Sheehey was trappingAndre Hollins after an inbounds pass. In a similar effort to Zeller’s Sheehey took a major dive in hope that the referees would somehow call a flagrant foul. The officials, very rightfully so, dismissed it after watching replays. New in college basketball this season is the rule that any contact to the head of an opponent is a flagrant foul. Sheehey fell and grabbed his face as though Hollins popped him with an elbow.
ESPN’s Dan Dakich did a nice job of calling out Sheehey’s acting job (listen to the commentary below). And really, it’s something that should be addressed. What’s the adage? One time is a fluke, two times is a trend. This whole acting nonsense is quickly becoming a trend with Indiana basketball. It’s time that a reporter address with Tom Crean to at least get a reaction. It’s coming to the point where it’s reasonable to think that diving is being coached.
The horrific acting won’t get you any closer to Jennifer Lawrence, you guys.
And if you don’t think IU head coach Tom Crean advised his players to flop, here’s concrete evidence in the timeout prior to Sheehey dropping like a ton of bricks.
My respect for IU…gone.

Create A Bumper Sticker

Sounds like some Michigan folk are jealous of the Hoosiers talent….flopping is alllll over college basketball, everyone teaches it. Don’t try to act like Indiana is the only team who does it. This coming from an Ohio State fan before you try to ping me as a Hoosier fan because I’m definitely not. Try reporting on something other than college basketball, because you obviously have never played before and your assumptions make you sound like an idiot.
Please elaborate on the highest level you’ve played.
It’s one thing to flop in a while taking a charge. It’s another to fake injuries twice in a week in desperate times in desperation.
This is a joke. There’s a reason they’ve heightened punishments for flopping in the NHL and NBA.
Jealous of Indiana’s talent? Not one bit. They’re a nice team, but nothing to be jealous of.
And please elaborate on what evidence there is that backs your claim about Crean you douchebag. Can’t say I’m a big fan of his but come on. Haha journalism truly has died.
The video says it all bud.
Really, I noticed during the game that Crean appeared to try to hide in the huddle and do some kind of motion that looked like he was advising his team to do something strange. At the time, I thought he was either telling them how to make it appear they were fouled or how IU could foul intentionally but not get an intentional call. But the announcers did not say anythng so I thought it must not be that big of deal for a Coach to try to hide in a huddle.
really? are you just noticing. ? wow.
Please review the history of the flop.
Yawn, and to say IU’s team is nothing to be jealous of? Get over yourself. Sounds like you’re still a little sour after they took Mich’s #1 ranking. Oh I’m a boiler fan btw and I hate UM twice as much as IU. Probably a liberal to top it all off!!
Competitors shouldn’t be jealous of an opponent’s talent. But when you’re a Purdue fan, that might be a different story.
You have me pegged – a liberal Michigan fan, ha.
So ‘acting’ loses your respect? I bet you HATE shot fakes then, huh? And what exactly does that video show beyond any doubt?
Do you believe all those conspiracy theories about 9/11 and the Moon landings too?
Acting like you got hit and are injured like Sheehey and Zeller both did is shameful. That nonsense doesn’t belong in soccer and it doesn’t belong in basketball. Shot fakes and acting injured are apples and oranges.
