Senators’ Erik Karlsson’s Achilles lacerated by Matt Cooke’s skate (VIDEO)
One night after Senators defenseman Erik Karlsson was found guilty of submitting a “Dive of the Year” candidate, he suffered what looks to be a pretty serious injury. Karlsson and Pittsburgh’s Matt Cooke battled for the puck in the corner when, as the video shows, Cooke seemed to bring his skate down hard on the back of Karlsson’s left ankle.
Karlsson immediately fell to the ice, and when he attempted to get up to skate off, he grimaced in pain and threw his stick. Cooke, who is widely known as an NHL pest, has been suspended multiple times for dirty hits. Was this intentional? Ottawa GM Brian Murray sure thinks so. I’ll let you decide.
