Titus Young thinks he’s better than Calvin Johnson
Ladies and gentlemen, I have heard it all. According to Titus Young, the Lions cut the best wide receiver in the NFL yesterday. And no, Calvin Johnson was not given his walking papers.
You see, Titus Young thinks he’s better than Megatron. The guy that was sent home three times within a seven-month span after sucker-punching teammate Louis Delmas in practice, lining up incorrectly and intentionally running the wrong routes in games and being an unruly distraction, including asking for his release over Twitter is better than Calvin Johnson. According to him anyway.
According to the Detroit Free Press, E.C. Robinson, Young’s high school coach, said Young came to his house on Christmas and the two talked about his problems with the Lions.
“He did tell me he thought he was just as good Megatron,” Robinson recalled late last month. “I said, ‘Titus, come on.’ I said, ‘Come on, man. Who you talking to?’ I said, ‘Come on, you’re as good as that guy? This guy is the real deal.’ And he really believes this. And he was sincere about it. ‘Ah man, I’m better than him.’ I said, ‘No you’re not. Be real man. Come on.’ So I don’t know, I’m hoping for the best for him.”
That’s just rich. In 26 career games with the Lions, the 2011 second round pick tallied 81 catches including 33 catches for 383 yards last year. For those counting at home, it took Calvin Johnson 13 games to catch 81 balls in 2012.
So shame on the Lions for cutting the best receiver football, I guess.
And according to Jason La Canfora of the NFL Network, the Rams claimed Young Tuesday.
