Gabrielle Gary of McCutcheon, Indiana was simply trying to save the ball from going out of bounds when she sprinted toward the boundary, flinged the ball back toward the court and hit a three-ball. Call me a cynic and frankly call me a jerk, but this is one of those “oops plays” (that occurs much more frequently in girls’ sports, it seems) where the player totally didn’t intend the result, but the result just sort of happens.
As far as I’m concerned, it was a lousy save attempt. But hey, it went in, so good for her. It’s not like she’s lacking skill. According to the YouTube poster, she finished the game with seven threes and 24 points. The poster fails to say whether she made the other six while falling out of bounds.
Tim is the founder and author of It’s Always Sunny In Detroit. Born and raised north of "The D", he was hands down the fastest kid on the playground. In his glory days as a Big Ten baseballer, Tim often thought about dating Jennifer Love Hewitt. After he hung ‘em up and got real, he graduated from law school and came back to Detroit. He has been keeping it sunny ever since.
