This is quite possibly the most confusing penalty call in the history of hockey. It happened Sunday between the Blackhawks and Jets. Winnipeg’s Mark Stuart received a two-minute penalty for boarding, despite standing in front of the net the whole while the puck was in the Jets’ zone (see the arrows).
You see, the penalty should have been called the Jets’ Olli Jokinen. Granted, the announcers were in disbelief that what Jokinen did was sin-bin-worthy. Then the confusion doors were blown right off the place.
