Now Jim Leyland’s circus act from Monday night makes sense. He was trying to out-do Lancaster Barnstormers’ manager Butch Hobson over the weekend. Reacting to Gilberto Mejia getting called out on a close play at first base, Hobson made it his job to reward a lucky, but confused fan. The Barnstormers play in the independent Atlantic League where guys are playing to make a name for themselves – no matter what they have to do.Shockingly enough, this isn’t Hobson’s first rodeo. He has experience in stealing bases. This is back in 2007 when Hobson managed the Nashua Pride.
